Brama Trust and Nataliya Rozhin Supporting 'Vinochok'
'Vinochok' is a vibrant musical community designed to bring children together through music, culture, and heritage. Initially conceived by Simone Schehtman to connect children with Ukrainian culture, she found a kindred spirit in Nataliya Rozhin, Cultural Director of Brama Trust, and together they have nurtured 'Vinochok' into what it is today - a bridge between Ukrainian heritage and the wider public.
A Place for Everyone
Every Sunday at MAC Birmingham children mainly from Ukraine come together to explore their cultural roots. The ensemble not only provides them with an opportunity to connect with peers from similar backgrounds, but also welcomes children from other communities interested in Ukrainian culture. The aim of 'Vinochok' is to preserve Ukrainian heritage, particularly among the younger generation, helping them stay connected to their roots. The children in 'Vinochok' have the freedom to choose music that resonates with them -from traditional Ukrainian songs to modern hits like 'Stefania' by Kalush Orchestra.
Guided by Passion
The dedication of Nataliya Rozhin as Cultural Director and the leadership of Mikhail Rozhin as Artistic Director have played a key role in nurturing young talent. Mikhail Rozhin, a composer currently studying at the prestigious Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, brings his experience and passion to each session, helping to guide these young musicians. The collaboration between 'Vinochok' and the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra also highlights their commitment to cultural exchange and mutual support.
Our Partners
'Vinochok' thrives thanks to partnerships with individuals and organisations that believe in the importance of cultural preservation. These include Simone Schehtman from Birminghamforukraine.org, Nataliya Rozhin from Brama Trust, Ben Turner from Hereford Music Shop, Bromsgrove Recorder Consort and several private musical instrument donors. This initiative is also supported by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and other partners.
