On 18th June 2024, the Together in Solihull Careers Fair took place at Solihull College Sports Hall, bringing together job seekers, career specialists, and industry professionals for a day of practical and interactive workshops designed to support career development.
The event provided invaluable hands-on guidance, equipping attendees with essential skills to enhance their CV writing, interview techniques, and job application strategies.
🔹 CV Writing WorkshopLed by Solihull Council’s Employment and Skills team, this one-hour session helped participants craft compelling CVs, highlight their strengths, and navigate the job application process effectively. Attendees gained practical tips on tailoring their CVs to different roles, ensuring they stood out to potential employers.
🔹 NHS Careers WorkshopExploring career opportunities within the National Health Service (NHS), this session provided an in-depth look at how to navigate the NHS job portal, understand job descriptions, and write successful job applications. The workshop was particularly beneficial for those interested in joining one of the UK’s largest employers.
🔹 Interview Skills WorkshopHosted in collaboration with Breaking Barriers, this session focused on building confidence in job interviews. Volunteers with firsthand experience of securing employment in the UK shared practical insights, offering strategies for answering interview questions, presenting strengths effectively, and making a lasting impression on employers.
