In 2024, the West Midlands proudly celebrates 50 years as a county and Lieutenancy. This milestone highlights the region’s rich heritage and the unwavering dedication of those who contribute to its communities. To honour this, the 50forWM50 campaign was launched, recognising the invaluable work of volunteers across Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. Their efforts strengthen the region, fostering resilience and unity.
It was a great honour for Olga, Victoria, Andrejus Rasinskis, and myself to receive this distinguished award on behalf of Brama. While Olga was unable to attend the event, we had the privilege of participating in the official celebration on 23rd June at Birmingham University, where the Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands delivered an inspiring address.
The event was a true reflection of community spirit, bringing together volunteers, organisations, and leaders from across the region. The afternoon featured a tea reception and live musical performances, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The highlight of the occasion was the presentation of certificates, each bearing the King’s Coat of Arms, symbolising the importance of this recognition.
Accepting this award on behalf of Brama is a testament to the dedication of those who work selflessly to support our communities. It is a privilege to be part of a collective effort that drives positive change and strengthens the fabric of society.
