On 14th December 2025, a group of 12 young refugees gathered at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Solihull for a warm and welcoming board games evening. Designed to create a relaxed space for socialising, practising English, and enjoying friendly competition, the event fostered connections in a cosy and inclusive setting.
The night featured a variety of classic and modern board games, offering participants the chance to engage in strategic thinking, teamwork, and conversation. Whether playing competitive games like UNO, solving Rubik’s Cubes, or enjoying the simplicity of Dominoes, everyone had a chance to unwind and interact in a stress-free environment.
Midway through the evening, participants took a break to enjoy a selection of traditional Ukrainian dishes, bringing an extra layer of warmth and cultural exchange to the event. Alongside the food, festive activities added to the lively atmosphere, making the gathering feel even more special.
As the evening came to an end, each participant received a small gift—a board game such as UNO, Dominoes, or a Rubik’s Cube—as a way to encourage continued social interaction, teamwork, and language practice beyond the event itself.
Board Games Night was more than just an evening of play—it was an opportunity to build friendships, strengthen communication skills, and share moments of joy in a supportive space.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to making this evening so memorable. We look forward to hosting more gatherings that bring people together through shared experiences and laughter!
